Due to continued growth we are now seeking a Teacher of Computer Science and ICT to join our team from September 2022. This post would suit a teacher at any stage of their career and offers an exciting opportunity for ambitious and hardworking professionals to launch or develop their career with outstanding professional support within a dynamic team of staff. The successful candidate must be able to teach at both KS4 and KS5. The Department Computer Science/ ICT is one of the most successful and popular subjects at the Academy. The department core aim is to provide a curriculum that is rich and varied, with exciting contexts and first rate resources. We aim to provide a learning experience with the best opportunities for success at every level. Computer Science/ ICT is taught as a discrete subject to all years at Sandwell Academy. It is also a core component of all other subjects through the extensive use of interactive whiteboards and IT in many classroom. Computing is taught primarily in Key Stage 3 but significant elements of this are also taught in the courses offered at both a Key Stage 4 and 5. At Post 16, roughly 40% of the Sixth Form choose an ICT course and many go onto to study it further at University. The team has state of the art facilities with three large suites of Dell PCs and interactive whiteboards running the standard Microsoft and Adobe packages, together with numerous subject specialist packages. This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding team. As a prospective teacher in this department you will be joining a creative and dynamic team committed to providing the best Computer Science and ICT experience for all students at the Academy. Ideally you will be well versed in all the latest software packages, especially Python and Adobe Macromedia. Salary & Benefits Salaries are competitive and above national pay scales. Successful candidates are also eligible for performance related pay linked to Academy policy in addition to their salary. Sandwell Academy opened in 2006 and now educates over 1,200 students, recruiting 200 students each year into Year 7 and a Sixth Form of 350 students. Sandwell Academy is part of the Thomas Telford Multi Academy Trust (TTMAT), established in September 2017. The MAT currently consists of three secondary schools; Madeley Academy, Sandwell Academy and Walsall Academy.
