What the school offers its staff
The ethos of our school is one of continual improvement; high quality, sustained CPD is at the heart of school and departmental development. The Maths Department at Cockermouth School is a high-performing department, with almost a third of students achieving grades 9–7 and 67% grades 9-5 at GCSE in 2023. The Maths element of P8 was almost 0.6. Every year we attract large numbers of students to A Level Maths and Further Maths. Over 50% of A Level Maths grades were either A or A* in 2023 across 3 different classes.
We are an evidence-informed team, looking to embed recent developments and further improve our practice.
