Teacher of Maths job summary
We are seeking to employ an enthusiastic teacher of Maths to join our team of dedicated Maths teachers. The post would suit an NQT teacher or a more experienced one. Whilst the post may be limited to teaching up to GCSE in the first year, there would be the opportunity for the right candidate to teach KS5 in future years.
Prince William School is located in Oundle, within easy commuting distance of Peterborough, Stamford, Kettering, Huntingdon, Wellingborough, and Corby. It is a vibrant and friendly school that strives to deliver the challenging and inspirational curriculum our students need to prepare them for the ever-changing world of work. We have high expectations for all, and our aim is simple: to be the best school in Northamptonshire and beyond for every student, no matter what their ability or aspirations.
The Maths department is staffed by a team of energetic, dedicated and resourceful professionals who are supportive of each other. Our students are well-behaved, happy, engaging, and inquisitive individuals, who are proud to be Prince William students. We are passionate about providing them with the best possible education and they have high aspirations for themselves and look to us to guide them on their journey to adult life.
The school is keen to support staff to develop both personally and professionally, and the successful candidate will be given training opportunities to suit their needs and career aspirations. If an NQT is appointed, they will benefit from the support of a mentor who is a Maths teacher, as well as the supervision of a member of the Extended Leadership Team.
This is an exciting time for the school as examination results have seen rapid improvement and the school is expanding. In 2019, 72% of our KS4 cohort achieved grade 4+ in both English and Maths, and 52% achieved grade 5+ in both English and Maths. The school’s Progress 8 score was +0.26, and the gap between disadvantaged and other students closed significantly for the second successive year, with the Progress 8 score for Free School Meals Ever 6 students being +0.04. In KS5, we achieved 56% A* - B and 79% A* - C, an average grade of B- and a positive progress measure.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and inspiring teacher who is committed to delivering high-quality lessons for students of all abilities. In return, the school offers a supportive Senior Leadership Team, a committed and caring department, good CPD and career development opportunities, and students with good attitudes to learning. There is also an onsite nursery run by a private company.

Welcome to Prince William School. Rated 'Good' by Ofsted, we are passionate about learning and providing a wide range of experiences for our young people to prepare them for the world beyond school. Our vision is to create an innovative learning environment which has all staff and students learning, developing and delivers the highest of expectations from ourselves and from each other.
At Prince William School we focus upon success. Success for learning. Success in competition. Success in our personal aims. This focus means that we achieve success in many areas including: school results, Duke of Edinburgh Awards, nationally recognised musicians, winning district, county and national sporting events and through being frequent competitors in activities such as the Economics literary papers judged at Eton, and the East Northants “Dragons Den” Competition. We also learn that although we aim to succeed, there are times when we might not. The key is to dust ourselves off and tackle the next challenge with the aim of succeeding next time.
We encourage our young people to ‘Dare to Dream’ through the setting of aspirational targets, recognising success in its many guises, through celebrations and in developing and promoting student leadership to encourage future students to do even better.
Our excellent year teams link the need to support young people through any difficulties and challenges in order to overcome barriers to learning and ensure the core purpose of learning and achievement is not forgotten.
