Teacher of Physical Education

Required for 1st September 2025 (Pay Rate: MPS/UPS)

Great Marlow School is a successful, highly regarded, and popular school with over 1440 students. We are looking for a teacher of Physical Education (PE) to work in a successful, dynamic and forward-thinking department under the leadership of an experienced Head of Department. The position is available to those who have experience or are new to the profession. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and motivated teacher to join a department that has a focus on excellence, high quality teaching and learning and secures extremely strong

outcomes for students of all abilities.

  • At Key Stage 3: All students study PE as part of their curriculum (4 lessons over a 2-week timetable).
  • At Key Stage 4: All students study PE as part of their curriculum (4 lessons over a 2-week timetable). PE is also a popular GCSE option with at least 3 teaching groups each year, in Year 10 and in Year11.
  • At Key Stage 5: Year 12 have PE once a week as part of their curriculum. The department run A level and BTEC PE courses and is also responsible for the delivery of the BTEC Travel and Tourism and BTEC Uniformed Protective Services courses. Numbers are high and outcomes are strong in all courses.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to command respect in the classroom and inspire all students to realise their potential. Candidates should be confident in using effective strategies to motivate ALL learner groups and in promoting the enjoyment of PE across all year groups.

Great Marlow School is a large co-educational secondary school located in the town of Marlow, Buckinghamshire. The school has around 1,450 students aged 11-19, with over 200 attending the sixth form.

Founded in 1961, the school converted to academy status in 2011 and in the last six years has invested £9 million in developing the school facilities including a state of the art sports centre, sixth form centre and performing arts accommodation. The Redgrave Sports Centre was named after former pupil and Olympic rower Sir Steve Redgrave, he opened in the centre in May 2013. The school and the sports centre are a 'hub' of the local community and host events and activities throughout the evenings, weekends and school holidays.
