Candidates suitable for the role will:

  • have strong subject knowledge and a passion for PE
  • be able to stretch and challenge able students to achieve highly
  • be committed to supporting the full range of fixtures and clubs outside of school, and the lunchtime extra-curricular provision
  • be passionate about personal and professional development and demonstrate a willingness to engage with the findings of evidence-based research through our whole school CPD programme
  • have the ability to communicate effectively with all staff, students and parents
  • be able to teach GCSE PE

Further details about the role

We’re looking to appoint a teacher of PE who has the subject knowledge and ability to inspire our extremely engaged and diverse student body. The school has an excellent reputation for team success at local, borough, county and regional level across a range of sports. The successful candidate will be an all-round PE teacher who can teach the major curriculum activities including netball, hockey, tennis, athletics, volleyball, badminton, cricket and football, and GCSE PE.

The school’s ethos of excellence in sport sits comfortably alongside an approach that promotes participation in physical activity for fun, health and recreation – adopting the #thisgirlcan campaign philosophy. We run an extensive fixture list, competing predominantly against independent schools, and offer a well-established and flourishing extra-curricular programme, which is supported by external coaches. Students have the option to attend sports trips and try out for the Wimbledon Ball Girl/Boy Programme.

There are impressive facilities on site: a new Sports Hall, large field, a hockey astro, 5 netball courts, 5 tennis courts, and two gymnasiums.
