What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for an innovative, highly motivated and inspirational teacher to join the Severndale Team. You will be joining an exceptional group of highly skilled Teachers, Teaching Assistants and support staff who work collaboratively to provide a highly personalised curriculum. We particularly encourage teachers with experience in SEND provision in Special or Mainstream who have a passion for nurture provision, Positive Behaviour Support and trauma informed practice.
The main purpose of this post is to both lead the planning and delivery of the schools’ behavioural and pastoral ’SHINE group', which provides small group focussed sensory, regulation and social group learning opportunities, and provide coaching support for colleagues to develop their positive behaviour support practice within the classrooms. This role will involve ongoing and close liaison with parents/carers, colleagues and other professionals and support staff. The successful candidate would be an experienced teacher with an understanding of trauma informed practice and positive behaviour support, enabling them to support pupils and staff members from Foundation through to Post 19.
Role requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Qualified Teacher Status or desire to attain QTS
- Significant successful teaching experience
Skills required:
- Ability to build good relationships with children, teachers and parents
- Ability to manage behaviour with SEND and trauma informed strategies

Severndale Specialist Academy:
Severndale Specialist Academy is a multi-site special school incorporating our Monkmoor campus, provision within a local mainstream secondary school and a purpose built 16-25 year old provision at our local college. We work with young people with special educational needs from within Shropshire and beyond. Our children and young people can access Severndale Specialist Academy from nursery age through to 25 and have a range of learning, physical and mobility difficulties and some students require personal care.
