Further details about the role
Robert Shaw Primary & Nursery School is seeking to appoint an excellent teaching practitioner, with experience of teaching in the early years, who has high expectations of pupil progress and a drive for self-development.
Robert Shaw Primary and Nursery School is a large, multi-cultural primary school, in Transform Trust, within Nottingham City. We are a two-form entry Primary School with a 104 place Nursery.
We are an ambitious and aspirational multi-cultural school with the majority of our children speaking English as an additional language and many come from a diverse range of backgrounds. This brings with it a variety of challenges, including the rapid development of literacy and language skills in order to access the full curriculum. There are many benefits of having such a rich and diverse community, including the strong development of British Values in which all are valued and respected. In our recent Ofsted Inspection it was noted that the children felt “It doesn’t matter what colour your skin is, or what your beliefs are. What matters is your personality – who you are.”
We are looking for an inspirational teacher who are committed to creating a stimulating learning environment through excellent classroom practice.

Robert Shaw Primary is a 420 place school and a 52 place Nursery in Nottingham City, it was opened in 1950 and serves the local communities of Ainsley, Aspley and Beechdale. At our most recent OFSTED Inspection in January 2014 we were judged to be in the “Requires Improvement” category. Since this inspection we have been working extremely hard to address the priorities raised in the Inspector’s report and make progress towards being the Good school we aspire to be. We are a vibrant, multi-cultural school in Nottingham City, and we are dedicated to providing the best education for all of our children. The Governors and staff work hard with the community of Robert Shaw School, in order to foster our ethos of mutual respect and to make British Values integral to all that we do. The children in our school describe Robert Shaw, as like a big family where everyone looks after each other. Our motto is ‘We strive to improve in all that we do’ and this is the belief that we instil in all of our children, and staff. By providing a stimulating and challenging environment, we provide all children with the equal opportunity to reach their personal and educational goals.
