What skills and experience we're looking for

Qualifications and training

  • Qualified teacher status
  • Evidence of professional development relevant to this role
  • Undertaken an MA or further study in school leadership

Experience

  • Teaching within the primary phase, including evidence of outstanding teaching
  • Leadership, including during school development and/or improvement, such as subject leadership and be able to explain impact they have had on improving standards across the school
  • Ability to work with the Senior Leadership Team to help deliver staff development programmes
  • Implementing teaching and learning strategies to improve quality and pupil attainment
  • Evidence of working effectively with parents and carers
  • Team leadership, including during school development and/or improvement
  • Evidence of teaching across Key Stage Two and Key Stage One
  • Developing and delivering staff development programmes

Skills and knowledge

  • Expert knowledge of legislation and guidance on curriculum requirements and key stage delivery
  • Outstanding classroom practice, constantly showing a positive and resilient approach to pupils and staff
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Good IT skills,
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate a vision and inspire others
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with staff and other stakeholders
  • Recognising the importance of work-life balance and how to manage this for staff in the team
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures from latest Safeguarding Information (such as the DfE ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’)
  • Ability to use evidenced-based research to improve standards
