Teaching and Learning Supervisor job summary
Are you a graduate who is interested in gaining experience for a career in teaching? Are you a Cover Supervisor or Teaching Assistant who is ready for the next steps in your career? Our Teaching and Learning Supervisor Role can help you to progress on your journey in education.
The primary purpose of the Teaching and Learning Supervisor is to lead and facilitate high-quality teaching and learning experiences across the school. This role involves significant responsibility for covering whole classes during planned (e.g., PPA) and unplanned teacher absences, ensuring curriculum continuity and effective pupil engagement. As a person you should be enthusiastic and passionate about education. Staff in the school are personable and work extremely well as a team.
The school will be looking to interview candidates with experience of working with young people, as a Cover Supervisor/Teaching Assistant, or with other areas of child related experience such as voluntary work with children outside of a classroom environment.
This position may also appeal to graduates who are thinking about finding a route into teaching. We have a proven track record of supporting trainees through the early stages of their training into successful teaching careers via the Josie Thirkell Institute of Education in partnership with Exceed Teaching School Hub. There may be the opportunity for a strong candidate (graduate) to obtain a place on the course the following academic year.
At Oakhill, we believe that all children thrive in an environment in which they are happy, challenged and secure. We consider it an absolute privilege to be important figures in our pupils’ young lives and are committed to ensuring their primary school days are full of fun, adventure and experiences which create lifelong passions and interests.
Our children are achieving incredible things. Are you someone who can work in partnership with parents to unleash a child’s potential and establish an appetite for life and learning?
We are looking for someone who:
is enthusiastic, warm and caring
is able to develop a friendly and supportive relationship with children and their families
is able to boost children’s self-esteem, resilience and aspirations
is able to work with the class teacher to support the children in their learning
is able to lead learning
is committed to their own learning and professional development
In return we can offer:
a chance to work with fantastic, enthusiastic children who deserve the best start in life
the opportunity to become part of a school community where children are at the heart of all we do
a supportive and experienced Leadership Team
a school that values your training and personal development
Visits to the schools are strongly advised and warmly welcomed. These will be available in September. Applications to be made through My New Term. For further information please contact: admin.oakhill@oakhillacademy.org.uk
