What skills and experience we're looking for

Are you passionate about making a real difference in a child’s learning journey? Do you thrive on supporting pupils to grow in confidence, independence, and happiness? We’d love to hear from you!

Furzeham Primary & Nursery School is looking for a dedicated1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in helping individual pupils thrive both in and beyond the classroom.

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to work alongside our SENDCo and teachers, to promote a child-centred approach to meeting the needs of an EYFS pupil who presents with social and emotional needs. The child currently accesses a child-led curriculum and enjoys engaging with his play choices, responding to adult conversation and they can remain on task for long periods of time. The child is supported 1:1 by an adult as they find it difficult to regulate in a busy classroom. The pupil is currently being supported through his play to remain regulated, build relationships, develop his ability to engage in adult-directed learning, and play alongside his peers. Adults support him using a PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy) approach.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide nurturing, personalised support to a pupil on a one-to-one basis.
  • Assist teachers with monitoring progress and keeping accurate, meaningful records.
  • Promote positive behaviour, build self-esteem and encourage independent learning.
  • Support children during break and lunch times and accompany them on educational visits.
  • Administer First Aid (training provided).

About you:

  • You’re patient, caring and committed to helping children succeed.
  • Experience supporting a child 1:1 would be beneficial, but not essential.
  • You’re a team player who brings enthusiasm, compassion and a willingness to learn.

Fixed term until August 2026, with the possibility of extension.

If you’re excited by the chance to make a meaningful impact every single day, we’d love to welcome you to our school community.
