Are you a dedicated and enthusiastic individual with a passion for supporting children’s learning and development? Lower Meadow Primary Academy is looking for a committed Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive and nurturing school community.
About the Role:As a Teaching Assistant, you will work under the guidance of Class Teachers and Higher Level Teaching Assistants to support pupils both in and out of the classroom. You will play a vital role in helping children access learning, develop independence, and thrive in a safe and stimulating environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting pupils’ learning, including those with additional needs, ensuring their safety and engagement.
- Assisting with lesson preparation, classroom organisation, and resource management.
- Promoting positive behaviour and inclusion across the school.
- Providing feedback to teachers on pupil progress and behaviour.
- Supervising pupils during non-classroom times, including lunchtime and school trips.
- Supporting the use of ICT and helping pupils develop digital skills.
- Has at least 2 years’ experience working with or caring for children in an educational setting.
- Holds relevant qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent).
- Has strong literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths).
- Understands the national curriculum and how to support learning across subjects.
- Is confident, enthusiastic, and motivated with a commitment to inclusion and safeguarding.
- Can build strong relationships with pupils and staff and work effectively as part of a team.
- Is resilient, adaptable, and eager to contribute to the wider life of the school.

Lower Meadow Primary Academy is a 3-11 Academy; we sit in South Sheffield on the border with Derbyshire and chose to join Astrea Academy Trust in July 2016. We have a strong team that drive school improvement and strive for the best outcomes for all children.
