In this rewarding role, you will work alongside teachers to deliver engaging learning experiences, prepare resources, support pupils pastorally, and help create an environment where every child feels valued, confident, and ready to succeed. You will play an important part in monitoring progress, celebrating achievements, and ensuring that all children receive the support they need to flourish.
This is a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day while becoming part of a vibrant school community that values teamwork, kindness, and high aspirations.
Job Requirements

- A minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including English and Maths.
- A relevant Teaching Assistant, childcare or educational qualification, or equivalent experience.
- Experience supporting learning and contributing to positive outcomes for pupils.
- A positive and nurturing approach, with the ability to build strong relationships with children and families.
- A caring and empathetic approach, with the ability to build positive relationships and support the inclusion and wellbeing of all children.
What We Offer
You will be joining a warm, welcoming, and dedicated team committed to living out our Catholic mission and helping every child achieve their God-given potential.
As recognised in our recent Ofsted inspection:
“The school’s strong culture of care and nurture means pupils feel safe and valued.”
“Pupils enjoy coming to school. They know that staff care about them and will support them with any worries.”
Working at St. Bernard’s, you will benefit from:
- Supportive leadership and a collaborative staff team.
- A strong commitment to professional development and career growth.
- A culture rooted in kindness, respect, empathy, and high expectations.
- Friendly colleagues who work hard, support one another, and enjoy celebrating success together.
- High-quality professional development and training opportunities.
- Access to wider collaboration and support through the Newman Catholic Trust.
We are particularly proud that:
“Pupils behave well and are respectful of others. They are keen to learn and respond well to adults’ high expectations.” — Ofsted, 2025
