Teaching Assistant job summary

Alderman Jacobs is a vibrant and popular three form entry school with its own pre-school located in the market town of Whittlesey, just 6 miles from Peterborough. The school was rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted (March 2023) with inspectors reporting that ‘Alderman Jacobs is a welcoming and happy place where pupils enjoy their learning. All aspects of school life reflect the school’s values of energy for life, learning and the environment’. The school joined the Soke Education Trust in September 2023 and works collaboratively with Gunthorpe, John Clare, Northborough, Werrington and Wittering Primary Schools supported by an experienced and collaborative central team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team at Alderman Jacobs School to support small groups of children and provide 1:1 support for children with additional learning or social, emotional, mental health (SEMH) needs.

Hours of work: 17.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time 38 weeks per year.

This is a fixed term contract until 31st August 2026.

• Has previous experience working in a school, supporting children with their learning
• Has an understanding of autism and/or trauma informed practice
• Is cheerful, resilient and enjoys working with children
• Is firm but fair in managing behaviour
• Is a team player, reflective, approachable and kind.
