What skills and experience we're looking for

  • At least 5 GCSEs or equivalent including Maths and English
  • A level or equivalent level 3 qualification
  • Practical knowledge of supporting young people in their learning
  • An understanding of inclusion and supporting students with differing needs, including SEMH
  • An understanding of academic assessment
  • An understanding of child protection and safeguarding procedures
  • A genuine liking of young people and a willingness to support them
  • Tenacity, resilience and the ability to repair relationships
  • Commitment to maintaining the caring and supportive ethos of the school
  • Good behaviour management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and individually
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to stay calm and work effectively when under pressure
  • IT competent
  • Ability to carry out tasks set by others
  • Previous work with young people
  • Responsibility for managing own workload
  • Experience of working in a school
  • At least one year in a role working closely with young people
  • Confident in a classroom environment both at KS3 and KS4
