The Governors are looking for two enthusiastic and friendly Teaching Assistants to join our Catholic primary school at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Otley. We are looking for compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to support a pupil with complex medical needs. This is a vital role that combines medical care with educational and emotional support, helping the child to fully participate in school life. Experience is desirable but not essential as full specialist medical training will be provided.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide direct support to a pupil with complex medical needs (full training will be provided).
  • Respond calmly and appropriately to any medical emergencies, following school and healthcare protocols.
  • Work closely with parents, school nurses, and external professionals to ensure the pupil’s needs are met.
  • Support the pupil’s learning, social development, and participation in classroom and school activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of medical interventions and contribute to reviews of the pupil’s healthcare plan.
  • Undertake all required training and adhere to safeguarding, health and safety, and medical needs policies.

We are looking for two Teaching Assistants who have numeracy and literacy skills grade 4 or above (or equivalent level) and who are:

  • be innovative, creative, forward thinking and work collaboratively within our team
  • have high expectations of children of all groups and abilities

  • have a fair, positive and calm approach to ensure pupils meet high expectations of excellent behaviour
  • support the Catholic ethos of our school
