Browick Road Primary and Nursery School is a happy, lively and thriving school where children develop and learn confidently in a stable and nurturing environment. We are looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic teaching assistant to join our fantastic school team.
Hours of work, Monday 9am-1pm in Nursery (4 hours) and Thursday and Friday 9am -3.15pm in the main school (11.75 hours).
On a Monday morning the successful candidate will be working in our nursery, Busy Bees, supporting our experienced and teacher-led team.
On Thursdays and Fridays, you will be working across the school. In the mornings you will be mainly working 1-1 supporting a Y1 child; leading a half hour lunch club for our children who like to craft/colour and in the afternoon you will be supporting our Year 3 class.
This post could be filled by one applicant working 3 days a week or split between 2 applicants dependant on experience and availability.
You may be a graduate wanting to gain experience for a career in teaching, an experienced teaching assistant or someone with limited experience who is passionate to work in schools.
The successful candidate will:
- ensure that children are cared for in a happy, safe and stimulating environment
- have high aspirations for children in their care and be able to support them to make progress, however small the steps;
- have high expectations of children’s behaviour;
- ideally have experience of working with children with EAL and SEND
- be calm, positive and patient;
- be able to use their own initiative and “think on their feet”;
- have an understanding of child-initiated learning;
- enjoy working as part of a team and be able to work on their own;
- have high expectations of themselves and others;
- have a positive attitude and sense of humour;
- have a commitment to outdoor learning, whatever the weather (we are a forest school);
- have a high level of written and oral skills;
- have a love of dogs (Ted, our school dog, is an important member of the team!);
- be committed to the school’s strong safeguarding culture.
