What skills and experience we're looking for

The ability to communicate fluently through the use of British Sign Language.

 A good understanding of learning processes.

 The ability to follow instructions from the teacher and also be able to work independently.

 The ability to deal positively with children.

 The ability to manage behaviour effectively and remain calm and non-confrontational.

 The ability to use ICT effectively.

 The ability to implement assessment for learning under the guidance of the teacher.

 Show initiative and work independently.

What the school offers its staff

Braidwood is a highly successful school for deaf pupils aged between 11 and 19.

We are seeking someone to work under the instruction/guidance of teaching/senior staff to

undertake work/care/support programmes, to enable access to learning for pupils and to assist the

teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom. To provide short term cover for lessons in

the absence of a class teacher To support teaching staff in the development and education of

pupils including the provision of specialist skills as appropriate. Work may be carried out in the

classroom or outside the main teaching area
