What skills and experience we're looking for

The Governors of Sparken Hill Academy are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our Key Stage 2 team to cover maternity leave. You will work alongside class teachers to support the learning and development of pupils, helping to create a positive and engaging classroom environment where all children can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils' learning across the curriculum, both in whole-class settings and through targeted interventions
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of learning activities under the direction of the class teacher
  • Provide support for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
  • Help maintain a safe, stimulating learning environment
  • Support pupils' social and emotional development
  • Assist with classroom preparation, display work, and resources
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and achievement
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience working with children in an educational setting
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children's learning
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Desirable:

  • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Experience supporting children with SEND
  • Knowledge of the Key Stage 2 curriculum
