What skills and experience we're looking for
The Governors of Sparken Hill Academy are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our Key Stage 2 team to cover maternity leave. You will work alongside class teachers to support the learning and development of pupils, helping to create a positive and engaging classroom environment where all children can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils' learning across the curriculum, both in whole-class settings and through targeted interventions
- Assist in the planning and delivery of learning activities under the direction of the class teacher
- Provide support for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
- Help maintain a safe, stimulating learning environment
- Support pupils' social and emotional development
- Assist with classroom preparation, display work, and resources
- Monitor and record pupil progress and achievement
- Contribute to the wider life of the school
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Experience working with children in an educational setting
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children's learning
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Desirable:
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification
- Experience supporting children with SEND
- Knowledge of the Key Stage 2 curriculum
