Teaching Assistant L1 (One to One) job summary

Caroline Haslett Primary School (CHPS) is looking for a KS1 Teaching Assistant with outstanding potential to support and contribute to ensuring our school continues to flourish.

Monday – Friday 8.45am until 3.15pm term time, with a team meeting taking place once a week until 4.00pm, plus five additional INSET days. Contract is for 30.75 hours per week, with a 30 minute lunch break.

The successful candidate will provide 1:1 support throughout the school day for pupils with additional special educational needs. This role also involves lunchtime supervision duties. The job involves working under the guidance and direction of the class teacher and SENDCo, developing and implementing various strategies to support pupils in the learning environment, providing personal and welfare care as well as some classroom administrative activities. Enjoying a challenge, being adaptable and resilient are essential characteristics for the position. Experience working with children with additional needs is preferred but not essential.

The successful applicant will be able to:-

  • Establish a good working relationship with pupils, acting as a positive role model
  • Be patient, understanding, supportive with a calm approach
  • Be able to follow advice from specialists and work towards individual outcomes with children
  • Be able to work as part of a team
  • Provide feedback to teachers in relation to progress and achievement
  • Assist in the development and organisation of resources and activities
  • Communicate with other adults involved as appropriate, ensuring a consistent approach from all.
