What skills and experience we're looking for

Nunthorpe Primary Academy is looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant (Level 2) to join our friendly and supportive team.

You will support pupils, particularly those with special educational needs (SEN), working closely with the class teacher to deliver learning, support routines, and promote positive behaviour.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Builds strong relationships with children and adults
  • Is caring, reliable, and committed to supporting learning

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. An enhanced DBS check will be required.

School Visit: Wednesday 17 June at 3:45pm

Closing Date: Friday 19 June, 10:00am

Interview Week: Commencing 22 June

Job Description & Person Specification – Level 2 Teaching Assistant Main Purpose

To support teaching and learning, particularly for pupils with special educational needs, helping them to access learning and achieve their individual targets.

Main Duties

Supporting Pupils: • Work with individuals and small groups, including pupils with SEN • Support learning in literacy and numeracy • Help pupils follow routines and manage behaviour • Provide encouragement and feedback Supporting Teaching: • Assist in preparing and delivering activities • Organise classroom resources • Observe and report on pupil progress Supporting the School: • Promote a positive environment • Work as part of a team • Follow safeguarding procedures

Person Specification

Essential: • Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or experience) • Experience working with children • Understanding of SEN • Good communication skills • Commitment to safeguarding Desirable: • Experience supporting SEN plans • Knowledge of behaviour strategies • Understanding of literacy and numeracy support
