Teaching Assistant Level 2 - SEN job summary

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant 1:1 SEND, to work with specific teachers and children to support teaching and learning, providing specialist support for additional EHCP needs.


About the Role:

  • Supervise and provide particular support for identified pupil(s) with special educational needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs
  • Use strategies, under the supervision and guidance of the teacher to support pupils to achieve learning goals
  • Assess achievement of SEND pupils and use systems to record progress


About you:

  • You will be an experienced TA preferably with 1-2-1 support experience across either mainstream or specialist teaching settings. You will be well practiced at supporting pupils with special educational needs and SEMH requirements.

  • You will be adept at tailoring your approach and support to respond to the strengths and needs of pupils.

  • You will be able to set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils as well as promote good progress and outcomes by pupils.

  • You will provide levels of care and support appropriate to the general needs of the children and those outlined in their EHCP’s and individualised plans.
