What skills and experience we're looking for

Newlyn School, part of Truro and Penwith Academy Trust, are looking for a warm and positive teaching assistant to join our team, who has a calm and nurturing yet aspirational mindset. The appointed candidate will be flexible and willing to engage with all team members across the school, having the hearts of our wonderful learners at the centre of everything we do. They will have a willingness to learn and grow professionally with a deep-rooted desire to champion all children, ensuring they can always be the best they can be; inside and outside of the classroom. We offer a vast array of extra-curricular clubs and personal development opportunities for all children, and a desire to add to this part of our school community is favourable.

We are looking for an enthusiastic teaching assistant who has experience in supporting high quality teaching and learning opportunities across Early Years, KS1 and/or KS2 with a particular interest in making meaningful learning opportunities to ensure all children can engage and progress, irrespective of their starting points or individualised needs. Having an understanding of how to engage with children who require intervention and support is essential in this role; with a view to promoting the value that targeted learning opportunities can play in building knowledge and masterful learners; growing in confidence day by day.

We whole heartedly commit to inclusive practice at Newlyn School with high ambition for crafting learning to support all children irrespective of their needs. Experience with supporting children with additional needs is essential, demonstrating a flair for adapting provision dynamically to meet the personalised needs of all children with the support of a wonderful staff team. We are looking for a team member who values collaboration and works effectively with staff, families, and external agencies with a dream to make a difference to the lives of the children in their class and community. A belief that all children can achieve and an aspirational and inclusive mindset is key.

At Newlyn School we have developed a curriculum that promotes the benefits that outdoor learning can have. We have an onsite Forest School and offer activities such as Beach School, Enrichment for Music and a High-Performance Squad for sport, allowing our children to find their hidden talents and thrive at what they do best. Our team work together to provide the very best opportunities for our children, and we look forward to our new team member embracing this also.

At Newlyn School, we are proud of our coastal identity, our inclusive ethos, and our commitment to helping every child feel that they belong, they believe they can achieve and they can become the best they can be by having an aspirational mindset. We are excited to welcome a new member to our team who shares our vision and values.

About You:

You will have a child-centered approach, and will provide creative, inclusive and aspirational learning opportunities to enrich our school curriculum. These experiences will aim to inspire and motivate children, whilst supporting high quality teaching and learning both indoors and outside the classroom. We are seeking a warm, positive and enthusiastic person to join our team that is forward thinking and has a real passion for championing all children, irrespective of their starting abilities. A commitment to support the schools’ vision for enrichment in personal development opportunities is key, recognising that in order to create well rounded children we focus collectively on the academic, social, emotional and holistic development simultaneously. The right candidate will be positive, inclusive and aspirational for our learners, inspiring them to achieve the very best possible.
