Teaching Assistant (SEND) - Primary SEMH and Complex Needs job summary

Finch Woods Academy caters for primary and secondary-aged pupils who present with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and other complex special educational needs and disabilities. We provide personalised education, care and support that enables every pupil to develop confidence, achieve recognised qualifications and build the skills they need for a positive and successful future.

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH and complex needs within our primary provision. The successful candidate will be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people with additional needs and will work closely with teachers and senior leaders to support pupils both within the classroom and through targeted interventions. Positive relationships, high expectations and a commitment to helping every pupil achieve their potential are essential to this rewarding role.

The role will involve supporting learning, promoting positive behaviour, assisting with pupils' emotional regulation, and helping to create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment. The successful candidate should have experience of working with children or young people with SEND and be able to build positive relationships whilst maintaining high expectations.

An interest or experience in areas such as Phonics, Science, Music or ICT would be advantageous, although this is not essential. We are looking for an individual who is proactive, resilient, adaptable and able to work effectively as part of a dedicated multi-disciplinary team.

In return, we offer a welcoming and supportive staff team, excellent opportunities for professional development, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, and the opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of our pupils.

Prospective applicants are warmly encouraged to visit Finch Woods Academy before submitting an application.

Please read the Job Description and Person Specification for full details.
