Further details about the role
Duties will include:
- Provide tailored support to pupils with a variety of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including but not limited to: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Dyslexia, and physical disabilities.
- Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to their review and development.
- Adapt learning materials and teaching strategies to meet individual pupil needs.
- Use specialist resources and equipment to support pupil learning and development.
- Work closely with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and other external agencies.
- Promote inclusion and create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.
- Support pupils with their social, emotional, and behavioral development.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and interventions.
- Have a patient, empathetic, and understanding approach to working with pupils with SEND.
- Experience or training in specific SEND areas is desirable (e.g., Makaton, PECS, etc.).
- Enhancing learning in the class, with small groups and on a one-to-one basis.
- Delivering interventions to meet the needs of the pupils.
- Supporting the children’s social and emotional well-being.
- Supporting the teacher to ensure our pupils get the best teaching and learning on a daily basis.
