Further details about the role

Duties will include:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with a variety of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including but not limited to: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Dyslexia, and physical disabilities.
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to their review and development.
  • Adapt learning materials and teaching strategies to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Use specialist resources and equipment to support pupil learning and development.
  • Work closely with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and other external agencies.
  • Promote inclusion and create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.
  • Support pupils with their social, emotional, and behavioral development.
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and interventions.
  • Have a patient, empathetic, and understanding approach to working with pupils with SEND.
  • Experience or training in specific SEND areas is desirable (e.g., Makaton, PECS, etc.).
  • Enhancing learning in the class, with small groups and on a one-to-one basis.
  • Delivering interventions to meet the needs of the pupils.
  • Supporting the children’s social and emotional well-being.
  • Supporting the teacher to ensure our pupils get the best teaching and learning on a daily basis.
