Teaching Assistant job summary
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant & After School Club Assistant to join our team and make a positive difference to the learning, development and wellbeing of our pupils.
The role is a combined position, comprising 30.83 hours per week as a Teaching Assistant and 12.5 hours per week as an After School Club Assistant. The After School Club runs until 6.00pm each day.
Teaching Assistant Responsibilities
Working closely with the class teacher, you will support the delivery of engaging learning activities for individuals, small groups and whole-class sessions. You will help pupils access the curriculum, develop their confidence and independence, and experience a sense of achievement.
The role will involve supporting literacy and numeracy activities, observing and sharing pupils’ progress with the class teacher, helping to prepare the classroom and resources, and using effective strategies to promote positive behaviour and inclusion. You will also support pupils with additional needs, including those with SEND, helping to ensure every child can participate fully in school life.
You will play an important role in maintaining a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment, supporting pupil wellbeing and safeguarding, and working collaboratively with teachers, colleagues, parents and other professionals. The role will also include supporting educational visits and lunchtime supervision.
After School Club Responsibilities
As part of this combined role, you will also support the running of our After School Club, which operates until 6.00pm. You will help provide a safe, welcoming and engaging environment for pupils after the school day, supervising children and supporting a range of age-appropriate activities.
You will be responsible for promoting positive behaviour, ensuring pupils’ wellbeing and safety, and helping to create an enjoyable and inclusive experience for all children attending the club. You will work collaboratively with other members of the After School Club team and ensure that appropriate safeguarding procedures are followed at all times.
About You
We are seeking someone who enjoys working with children, has excellent communication and organisational skills, remains calm and positive in challenging situations, and is committed to achieving the best outcomes for all pupils.
The successful candidate will be able to work effectively as part of a team, build positive relationships with children and colleagues, and demonstrate a caring and inclusive approach. A willingness to learn and undertake relevant training and professional development is also important.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children both during the school day and in their extended school provision, and who would enjoy contributing to the wider life of our school.
