What skills and experience we're looking for

Gedney Hill Church of England Primary School are looking to appoint a Level 1 – General Teaching Assistant for 25 hours per week, 39 weeks per year.

Experience of working with SEND children would be an advantage.


The successful candidate will be committed to helping children to succeed, have excellent communication skills, be able to work using their own initiative.

Overview of the role of a Teaching Assistant:

  • Providing support to children in and out of the classroom.
  • Assisting with a range of educational needs.
  • Providing children with the care and compassion they need to thrive in school.
  • Liaising with parents and external agencies where suitable.
  • Supporting with appropriate interventions such as phonics and maths.
  • Working collaboratively with the teacher and the wider school team to improve outcomes for children.

  • Act in accordance with school policies and procedures and relevant legislation, particularly in relation to child protection, safeguarding, protected characteristics and behaviour management.
