Teaching and Learning Assistant to support SEND pupil/s and teach phonics/ maths

Termly Time only

39 weeks per year

7.45am to 3.30pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday Friday, 7.45am to 4pm Tuesday

We are seeking a caring, committed, and enthusiastic Teaching and Learning Assistant to join our friendly and inclusive school team. The successful candidate will start each day supporting children in our breakfast club. The successful candidate will support SEND pupils across the school and deliver high-quality Read, Write, Inc phonics interventions as well as Maths interventions , helping every child achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide a safe and engaging breakfast club session

    Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND

  • Deliver structured phonics lessons and support classroom phonics teaching (e.g., using Read Write Inc., Letters and Sounds, or Jolly Phonics)

  • Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to adapt learning activities

  • Support pupils’ emotional, social, and behavioural development

  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to staff and parents as appropriate

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • EYFS childcare qualification and experience

    Experience working with children with SEND (desirable but not essential)

  • Knowledge of or willingness to train in phonics programmes

  • A patient, flexible, and nurturing approach

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team
