What skills and experience we're looking for

Redcastle Family School successfully opened our Special Resource Base to children with autism in 2021 as part of our commitment to support the needs of SEND children across Thetford and the local area.

We are now thrilled to be opening two new specialist resource bases to support varying profiles of SEND; an 8 place infant provision (EIH) and an 8 place junior base (AIH) which will work within our main school in an integrated approach.

Comprising of three class spaces, a sensory room, and multiple break out spaces. We are looking for a number of professionals to join us on the next stage of our special journey.

We are looking to appoint either an experienced practitioner with SEND or a teacher who would like to develop a career path in SEND teaching. Therefore, both experienced practitioners and those eager to develop these skills, including ECT’s, are welcome to apply. This is an exciting opportunity to have a significant impact on outcomes for children, while developing your own practice through nationally recognised professional development.

Redcastle Family School supports a thriving community within Thetford. We are a school that puts children at the heart of everything that we do and takes pride in the reward that comes from seeing the progress that children make by delivering a quality education through a tailor made curriculum.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and confident in providing a high quality education and a willingness to develop new ideas. An understanding of all age phases curriculum is essential.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about teaching and learning:

  • Has high expectations;
  • Is able to make suitable plans for a child’s needs by interpreting both how they present as well as specific assessments and knowledge of their specific needs;
  • Encourages children to develop in all aspects of their learning, including both socially and emotionally, promoting the school’s nurturing ethos;
  • Appreciates the need to work as a team to face challenges together;
  • Has the ability to reflect on and develop their classroom practice;

Has an excellent understanding of the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
