We have an exciting and rare position for a Music graduate to join our vibrant music department as an Apprentice Teacher. This is a new post to support increased student uptake in Music. There are currently over 90 students studying GCSE Music and A Level Music Technology, with a history of fantastic results. The department has a wide range of extra-curricular clubs including Choir, String Group, Percussion Ensemble, Ukulele Orchestra and Music Tech Club as well as regular performances throughout the academic year.
There is a strong ethos of performance at the college through musicals, concerts, busking and virtual events. We have many composers, bands and soloists regularly practicing, recording, and performing daily within the department.
Music is well supported at Frome College as seen through our excellent facilities and resources:
• First classroom with a dedicated performance stage with full PA system and digital mixing desk.
• A second classroom equipped with 24 Apple Macs all equipped with Logic Pro X.
• Well-equipped 16 channel studio with three live rooms attached, including purpose-built vocal booth.
• 4 additional practise rooms and separate music office.
The apprenticeship is being run in partnership with Coventry University where the successful candidate will receive on the job training and mentoring as well as remote lecturing and mentorship from Coventry University. The apprentice upon completion of the course will receive a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) and Qualified Teaching Status (QTS).
Requirements:
• Must have a degree level qualification in Music (BA or BMUS)
• Must be willing to participate in concerts and events throughout the year
• Have a positive mind set and willingness to learn
• Be able to communicate in a kind and professional manner with students
• Be a skilled musician that can demonstrate excellent subject knowledge
• Willingness to contribute to the extra-curricular activities offered within the department
