Transitions Coordinator job summary

Acorn Education Trust is seeking a confident and highly organised Administrator to provide support in facilitating and coordinating transition opportunities and activities for students within our primary and secondary schools. Based at our Clarendon Academy site in Trowbridge, this is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about ensuring that pupils have a positive, smooth and effective transition between educational phases and settings.

Working Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 39 weeks per year, includes Teacher training days). Required: September 2026

At Acorn, we pride ourselves on transforming education locally, with our two nurseries, seventeen primary and four secondary schools being at the heart of their local communities. As Transitions Coordinator, you will play an active role in coordinating transitions between our schools while supporting links with partner primary schools that feed into our secondary schools. You will be expected to organise opportunities for pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6 to spend time in secondary settings, support leadership opportunities for secondary pupils to work with primary children and assist with the coordination of visits from secondary staff into primary schools.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with a keen eye for detail, who has strong interpersonal skills and is confident at working across primary and secondary phases. Experience of coordinating events, programmes or partnership activity would be advantageous for this role.


We are looking for someone who:

  • GCSE or equivalent level, including at least a Grade 4 (previously Grade C) in English and Maths
  • Is well presented and articulate, with excellent communication skills;
  • Has strong interpersonal skills and is able to work with a variety of pupils, staff, parents and schools;
  • Has superb attention to detail and organisational skills;
  • Is self-motivated dedicated and consistent;
  • Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations;
  • Is a strong team player, who can use their own initiative;
  • Has the ability to maintain accurate records, schedules and communications related to transition activities;
  • Has a positive and flexible attitude;
  • Has experience of working in a similar role (advantageous);
  • Is willing to travel to Trust schools and partner primary schools to support with transition planning, administration and delivery, as required;
  • A Clean driving licence and willingness to drive a minibus with pupils and school staff.
