Vice Principal - Curriculum job summary
The role of the Vice Principal (Curriculum) is crucial in developing the ethos of achievement within the school, in harmony with the aims and ethos of the whole school.
This role is key to the success and development of the school, and the raising of student achievement, ensuring that targets for improvement are set and met, through positive approaches to curriculum development, the planning and preparation of schemes of work, the monitoring of learning and teaching, and the support and development of staff.
The Vice Principal (Curriculum ) role forms a vital part of the leadership team therefore a good knowledge of educational issues is expected, keeping up to date to lead on improving pedagogy and practice.

Worle Community School – an Academy is a thriving 11-16 mixed comprehensive with 1400 students on roll serving the north of Weston-Super-Mare.

As a Vice Principal you will act as “the public face of the Academy” in dealing with parents, members of the community, the Local Authority and relevant agencies.
The successful candidate will have responsibility and accountability for the effective development and delivery of the curriculum. They will also ensure the effective use of assessment and the rigorous monitoring of academic standards including Quality Assurance of all aspects of the curriculum, as well as developing a relevant CPD program, which is a key part of this role.
The successful applicant must have experience in:
- Successful leadership and management experience in a school;
- Teaching experience;
- Involvement in school self-evaluation and development planning;
- Line management experience;
- Experience of contributing to staff development.
Applicants must have experience in leading teams in a senior, central or subject level and be qualified to Degree level and a PGCE or equivalent qualifications.
