As part of Abingdon Learning Trust, John Mason School is looking to recruit a dynamic, forward-thinking and inspirational Welfare Officer who will support whole school safeguarding and child protection and work with students and their families.

This role will involve working with external agencies and making referrals along with giving pastoral support for students and families who might be facing challenging circumstances or in crisis.

We are looking for:

Experience working with children, families, schools and multi-agency teams

Excellent communication and negotiation skills

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage case work, excellent record keeping and report writing

Good knowledge of safeguarding policies, procedures and legislation

A positive and can-do attitude and a relationship-focused approach

Able to work independently, out in settings and as part of a team

Flexible and adaptive to the different needs of our children and young people
