What skills and experience we're looking for
An additional leadership opportunity
For candidates with the appropriate experience, there is the opportunity to take on responsibility as KS1 Phase Leader. This attracts a TLR payment and a fortnightly half-day of leadership release. The role combines leadership, monitoring and coaching: supporting colleagues, modelling strong practice, securing consistency across the phase and helping to drive whole-school priorities.
We are looking for someone who:
- is an effective, reflective classroom practitioner with high expectations for every child;
- understands the importance of strong early reading, phonics, writing and mathematical foundations in KS1;
- creates a calm, purposeful and inclusive classroom where positive relationships and behaviour for learning flourish;
- uses assessment well to adapt teaching and secure progress from pupils’ different starting points;
- is confident in adapting provision for pupils with SEND, EAL and other barriers to learning;
- works collaboratively, communicates well and contributes positively to the wider life of the school;
- is committed to safeguarding, equality and the wellbeing of children.
- can model high-quality teaching, inclusion and classroom management;
- can support and coach colleagues with planning, assessment, behaviour and adaptive teaching;
- can use monitoring, pupil outcomes and professional dialogue to identify strengths and areas for development;
- can build consistency across KS1 while maintaining a supportive, solution-focused team culture;
- is ready to work closely with SLT and the SENCo to improve provision and outcomes for all pupils.
