At Gorsey Bank we believe that whatever children’s interests, passions or talents, instilling a love of learning is the most important thing we can do for them. Developing the right knowledge, skills and attitudes to enable our pupils to become motivated, passionate and resilient learners is central to the Gorsey Bank philosophy and is at the heart of everything we do.
We are a highly oversubscribed school with a proven track record of outstanding pupil attainment which placed us in the top 2% of schools nationally for our most recent Key Stage 2 results.
Gorsey Bank converted to academy status and became a proud member of the Laurus Trust in October 2016. We echo the Trust’s Vision and continue to strive “for everyone, regardless of background or circumstance, to be inspired, to thrive in all environments, to recognise what it takes to succeed, to set aspirational goals and to work hard to achieve them.”
Our mission is to prepare our children to embrace the challenges and opportunities of the outside world and we do this through a broad, balanced and memorable school curriculum.
We have identified four ‘Curriculum Drivers’ – elements that are integral to our school ethos of ‘embracing the challenges and opportunities of the outside world’ and they will further enhance the exciting and engaging learning opportunities that our pupils enjoy every day. These include:
Collaboration - to learn from each other, to support each other, to be successful together;
Possibilities- to change ourselves, to challenge each other, to push boundaries;
Respect - to understand ourselves, to appreciate each other, to value diversity;
Technology - to learn, to communicate, to create.
Professional Development
We attach huge importance to continued Professional Learning and recognise that, in the exciting and ever-changing environment in which we work, we are all learners and are constantly looking for ways to improve our practice.
Our comprehensive programme of in-house Professional Learning comprises weekly pedagogy-based sessions, Further Professional Learning sessions, opportunities to coach and mentor and engage in research.
Being part of a Multi Academy Trust enables our staff to work across schools and phases. Not only does this broaden their experience, it opens up a wider range of leadership opportunities.
As a Trust we actively develop our teachers through nationally accredited programmes such as the NPQ's and many of our staff have completed courses at Masters level. Members of our Leadership Team regularly engage in school-to-school support and deliver training for Early Career Teachers.
If you want to work in a highly ambitious and successful school and believe you have the vision and commitment to join our team, then we would love to hear from you.
