Full time: SEMH Transition Teacher You will be a qualified teacher or have experience of teaching in secondary and or primary education. There will be significant gaps in the pupils’ knowledge and understanding which will need to be addressed and planned for. There is a real onus on teaching life skills which help to enhance their values, learning and interests as well as specialist 1:1 support.

What skills and experience we're looking for

Requirements

The role is open to more experienced teachers and NQT's or have experience of teaching in secondary and or primary education. Recent experience and a genuine passion for working in an SEMH environment is desirable. CPI training or any other form of positive handling will be advantageous but not essential as appropriate training will be provided.

The Key duties of a Transition Teacher:

  • Teaching Yr7 transition lessons.
  • Taking responsibility for the progress of in class pupils.
  • Organising the classroom and resources to encourage a positive learning environment.
  • Planning, preparing and teaching lessons that cater for a range of needs within the class.
  • Motivating pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentation.
  • Maintaining discipline.
  • Preparing and marking work to facilitate positive pupil development.
  • Meeting requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils' development.
  • Providing regular feedback to parents/carers on a pupil's progress.
  • Working with others to plan and coordinate work.
  • Keeping up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum.
  • Organising and taking part in school events, outings and activities.
  • Liaising with colleagues and working flexibly.
  • Working with parents/carers and school governors to maximise their involvement in the school.
  • Meeting with other professionals (e.g. education welfare officers, educational psychologists etc).
  • Carry out any other tasks as agreed by the Leadership Team.
