About William Hulme's Grammar School

William Hulme’s Grammar School is the second most over-subscribed school in Manchester and one of the most successful comprehensive schools in the country. WHGS is an all-through (3-18) Academy of over 1450 pupils with a wide range of abilities, ethnicities and backgrounds.

The Academy has a relatively new Sixth Form Centre, a two-form entry Primary Phase and has specialist rooms in the Secondary Phase, including fully equipped science labs, a library, ICT resource centre, music practice rooms, design, technology and art rooms. There is also a sports hall with changing facilities, along with full kitchen and dining facilities in the Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form.

Inspectors judged the school to be Good in all phases in its most recent inspection, May 2019

The school encourages staff to organise events and trips (home and abroad), extra-curricular and subject enrichment activities, to develop the whole child, to prepare him/her for the challenges of the modern world.
