1:1 Teaching Assistant job summary
Howard Junior School has an exciting opportunity for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their established team. The successful candidate will be joining a vibrant and ambitious organisation, led by experienced and supportive professionals. This is a fixed term contract to end 31/08/2025.
We are looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to be dedicated to the mentoring and support of one pupil or at times a small group of pupils. Our pupils may have a number of diagnoses including ASD, ADHD, FASD, anxiety and/or, communication and interaction, cognition, and learning needs and may need intimate care. There will also be the need to provide support during extra-curricular activities and school trips.
We are looking for someone who can build positive relationships with your pupil/s and drive interaction and positive learning outcomes. There will be a need to promote independent learning skills and behaviours for learning.

Skills & Experience
Level 2 qualification in both English and Maths of grade A*- C (or equivalent)
A Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent would be a distinct advantage
Experience of working in an education setting, classroom management and working with children of a relevant age is essential.
A calm and clear communicator.
A good knowledge of safeguarding regulations.
A positive role model, who is able to make positive relationships with children.
A dedicated individual, who is hardworking and aspirational for our young people.
