What skills and experience we're looking for

Christopher Pickering Primary School requires a highly committed Achievement Support Assistant to join our supportive team.

We pride ourselves on our strong team ethos and our exciting immersive curriculum. We are a larger than average primary school and are fortunate to be housed in a bespoke, purposeful building, which we share with a number of partners including Ganton Primary, iPaSS and Teeny Tots Nursery. Together we feel that we can offer a very special and inclusive approach to education.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work as part of a team committed to providing high quality, learning experiences for our children.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Contribute to planning and evaluation of learning and assists in the recording of pupils’ progress
  • Support individual and small groups of children in the curriculum, to accelerate their learning
  • Support the emotional, behavioural and pastoral needs of all pupils, including children with additional needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education / Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes
  • Encourages pupils to develop as independent learners with a thirst for learning

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Understanding of National Curriculum, EYFS Guidance and other codes of practice e.g. SEN, Equalities, Safeguarding
  • Effective use of ICT to support teaching and learning
  • Ability to interact well using courtesy, tact and diplomacy and negotiation skills
  • Ability to establish professional, effective working relationships with a range of partners/colleagues and children and young people.

Christopher Pickering Primary School is a large school to the west of Hull. It has places for 420 pupils aged 5-11 years and has a 40 place nursery. It is based in The Compass building, a purpose built centre, which it shares with a range of other agencies including a private nursery, the city’s hearing impaired resource base, a children’s centre and the primary section of Ganton Special School. Christopher Pickering Primary is Ofsted rated ‘Good’. They offer a truly inclusive approach to education and strive for all children to be the ‘best they can be’. Christopher Pickering Primary School became an academy in February 2015 and joined Humber Education Trust in September 2017.
