Overview

Shears Green Junior School is seeking to appoint two confident and creative individuals to assist in our new After School Club. The ideal candidates will have some experience working within a school environment and a passion for supporting children in their development and play.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision and Safety:

    • Ensure the safety and well-being of all pupils at all times.
    • Supervise children during club hours, maintaining a safe and secure environment.
    • Engagement and Interaction:

      • Engage with pupils in conversation and play, fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
      • Set up and facilitate activities that encourage participation and creativity among children.
      • Parent Interaction:

        • Meet and greet parents upon arrival and departure.
        • Provide feedback to parents regarding their child's experiences and activities during the club.
        • Activity Planning:

          • Organise and prepare resources for various activities, allowing children to choose whether to participate.
          • Ensure that activities are age-appropriate and cater to the diverse needs of all pupils.
          • Training and Development:

            • Participate in training sessions as required to enhance skills and knowledge, including paediatric first aid if not already qualified.
            • Be willing to work towards Level 2 or 3 qualifications in playwork or childcare.
            Qualifications and Skills
            • Level 2 or 3 qualifications in playwork or childcare are desirable but not essential.
            • Experience working with children in a school or childcare setting is preferred.
            • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
            • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, pupils, and parents.
            • A commitment to promoting the school’s vision and values, including kindness, courtesy, courage, and honesty.
