What skills and experience we're looking for

Oaklands is an outstanding special school serving the London Borough of Hounslow that provides specialist education to students with severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple difficulties and autism. We have a Primary school (New Oaks) and a Secondary school (High Oaks). We are based across two different sites with both our school buildings offering state of the art facilities for our students.

Due to our rapid and continued expansion we are looking to appoint Apprentice Teaching Assistants to work within our class teams across the secondary school, supporting the Teacher and other classroom staff in delivering education to small groups of students that have severe physical and learning disabilities. Apprentices will be enrolled on an appropriate course of study and will work towards a Level 3 certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or an Early Years Qualification dependent upon which area of the Oaklands group they work. If you have a good basic education and are interested in developing your skills and a career working with young people who have learning difficulties, this is the perfect opportunity for you. Pay Scale: Apprentice Pay Scale – £13.85 per hour (London Living Wage)

Actual Salary: £22,365 per annum

Contract Type: Fixed Term Apprenticeship Contract until 31st August 2028. Term time only.

Hours of work: 36 hours per week, term time plus inset days. (30 hours working at school, and 6 hours to cover study outside of working hours.)

The successful candidates will be required to attend a pre-employment induction and successfully pass safeguarding
