Assistant Head Teacher - SEND Leader job summary

As Assistant Head Teacher – SEND Leader, you will:

Lead and strategically develop SEND provision, ensuring high-quality teaching, learning, and pastoral care for all pupils with additional needs.

Oversee the Resource Base (RB), ensuring that pupils with ASC receive specialist support and an inclusive, aspirational curriculum.

Be the school’s SENCO, leading on EHCP processes, intervention strategies, and multi-agency working with external specialists such as Speech and Language Therapists and Educational Psychologist.

Provide high-quality training and professional development for staff on inclusive teaching strategies and SEND best practice.

Be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to whole-school improvement and safeguarding as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL).

Work closely with parents and carers, fostering strong relationships to support pupil progress and well-being.
