Hours: 24 hours per week, 39 weeks of the year (term time only + INSET)

Contract type: Permanent

Marlwood School is seeking a proactive and personable Attendance Administrator to join our dedicated support team. You will play a vital part in maintaining a positive learning environment by ensuring students are present, supported, and ready to succeed.

About the Role

As the Attendance Administrator your primary focus will be to ensure attendance records are meticulously maintained to minimise disruption to the school curriculum.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing the school’s attendance policies and providing administrative support to the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Monitoring attendance data for vulnerable groups, producing detailed reports and preparing evidence for potential prosecutions regarding poor attendance.
  • Liaising with parents, carers, and Education Welfare Officers, including initiating contact when attendance issues arise and attending formal School Attendance Panel meetings.
  • Providing direct support for vulnerable students and assisting with the school’s behavior management system, including lunchtime duties and supervision.
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality in line with school and trust policies.

About You

We are looking for a "self-starter" who is approachable and committed to the welfare of young people. You should be someone who thrives in a busy office environment and possesses the organisational skills to juggle competing deadlines and priorities.

You will have:

  • Demonstrable experience in a general office environment, including administrative procedures and the use of computer systems such as Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbally.
  • Strong IT skills. SIMS experience is desirable, but it is not essential
  • The ability to prioritise effectively and manage your own workload with support from your line manager.
  • A steadfast commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is a must.

About us

This is a really exciting time to join Marlwood School. Having received a Good Ofsted rating in November 2023, you will be joining us on our journey towards becoming an exceptional school that lies at the heart of a close knit community. With around 550 students, we are a smaller than average secondary school and this brings with it many benefits, not least our ability to get to know our children quickly, understand their individual needs and place high quality education at the heart of everything we do. Our values of Resilience, Respect and Responsibility are lived throughout our school community.

We pride ourselves on our CPD support, both at school and trust level. As a school, we invest in personalised coaching for all staff, with a focus on subject-specific pedagogy and teaching and learning. We also have a central Trust education team who support and deliver high quality training.

We can offer you:

  • Happy, engaging students who thrive on inspirational leadership
  • A supportive trust and school community
  • Strong collaboration across the trust family of schools and access to a centralised team of specialists across all areas of school operations
  • A commitment to high‑quality CPD, with dedicated time and budget for your development
  • A values‑driven ethos where diversity, equity and inclusion are lived every day
  • Recognition of continuous service (modification order) to protect employment rights and entitlements
  • Local Authority Pension Scheme with generous employer contributions and death‑in‑service cover
  • Occupational sick pay to support you during illness or unexpected emergencies
  • Family‑friendly leave packages to help maintain a healthy work–life balance

In order to apply for this role please complete an application form by 9am, 1st September. Interviews are expected to take place 4th September. Please let us know if you require any adjustments as part of the process.

This is a warm and friendly school with a family feel where
each child is appreciated and cared for who they are, as well
as what they achieve and go on to become.

Being a smaller than average secondary school, our size is
definitely our strength. We pride ourselves on being a kind
and caring student focussed school, where every member of
staff makes it their business to get to know each child as
soon as they enter the Marlwood family.

Our pastoral care is second to none. Our dedicated pastoral
staff work very closely with students to understand their
needs and provide the very best support and care. After all,
happy children are more likely to be successful children!
Marlwood has recently received investment that is funding a
facelift of the school to include new classrooms for art,
design technology and science. The school also benefits
from expansive grounds including tennis courts, astro pitch
and a multi-purpose playing field. There is a real sense of
fresh air at the school!
