Attendance Officer job summary

Gooseacre Primary Academy are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Attendance Officer to join our thriving team. This is a new role within our pastoral team, and is a vital link to ensure that student attend in order to succeed. No two days are the same in this fast paced role.

This is an ideal position for someone who is a team player, has a positive attitude and understands the importance of providing a safe learning environment. The successful candidate will need to be able to show an unrelenting focus on doing what is in the best interests of every pupil.

Purpose of the Role:

  • - To be a key player in driving improvement of attendance and punctuality at Gooseacre Primary Academy to be in line or above national expectations, by working within a team to implement successful strategies.
  • - To implement and embed systems to support the Academy in raising attendance, investigating persistent absences and improving punctuality.
  • - To fulfil administrative functions associated with the role.
  • - To work with staff, pupils and their families to promote high levels of attendance and challenge any non-attendance.
  • - To support with Reception duties such as dealing with visitors, phone calls, staff and pupil queries and providing lunch cover for the Receptionist.

Welcome to Gooseacre Primary Academy

Gooseacre Primary Academy is located in Thurnscoe in South Yorkshire, close to Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham. We currently have over 300 pupils on our roll and ten classes in the school: Foundation Stage 1 and 2, three Key Stage 1 classes and seven Key Stage 2 classes.

The school has seen a remarkable pace of improvement in recent times and in June 2020 Ofsted judged us to be “a good school”. We are proud to have achieved this status for a second time, which is due to considerable dedication and effort from the whole team of staff and wider academy community. We are committed to maintaining our rate of progress. We will build on our strengths, ensuring good practice is embedded into the school and drive forward new initiatives to enhance our performance further.

We are delighted to now be a part of the Astrea Academy Trust. The Astrea vision enables individual academies to flourish with real autonomy, whilst also ensuring a strong ethos of support and collaboration.
