Biology and Chemistry Science Technician job summary
We have an exciting fixed-term opportunity for a suitably qualified Science Technician to provide effective support to our Biology and Chemistry departments. Reporting to the Senior Science Technician (Biology & Chemistry), you will ensure a safe and efficient laboratory technical service is provided for students and teaching staff in both departments.
What you’ll do:
- Support the departments in the promotion and observance of a healthy and safe working environment.
- Ensure the laboratories, storerooms and preparation areas are clean, safe and in an orderly condition.
- Ensure equipment is in good order including carrying out routine and non-routine checking, cleaning, maintenance, calibration, testing and repair to the required standard.
- Provide technical advice and support in the classroom.
What we’re looking for:
- An efficient and meticulous organiser.
- An excellent communicator.
- Experience of working in a relevant discipline within a laboratory or similar environment is desirable, but not essential.

Hours of work: 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time only plus one week (to include INSET days). Flexible working available, to be discussed at interview.
