Cleaner job summary
We are currently recruiting for a Cleaner where they will be responsible for ensuring that the School’s site is a clean, efficient, safe, and secure place to study and work, providing an optimum environment for our students and staff.
The cleaning team as a whole are responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the school. Each cleaner will be responsible for an area and will be expected to clean to the frequency and standard set out. At the direction of the Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher or Business Manager, cleaning staff will clean other areas as required.
The Headteacher will delegate the monitoring of the cleaning to the Business and Site Managers and it is their responsibility to ensure that high standards of cleanliness are reached and maintained. From time to time the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher also will carry out spot checks on any aspect of cleanliness they feel is appropriate.
Hours of duty: 16 hours per week - 2:45-6pm Monday to Thursday, 3-6pm Friday
(Term Time 40 weeks - Monday to Friday plus inset days & 1 week summer Holidays)
Purpose of the role: To undertake cleaning duties at Hanwell Fields Community School.
Main Duties - Daily : Toilet and Cloakroom Areas:
- Clean lavatory basins with appropriate cleaner provided include below and around
- Clean inside and outside surrounds of sinks and Taps
- Refill toilet dispensers in all cubicles
- Refill paper towels in each dispenser
- Wipe tiles
- Polish mirrors
- Check paintwork and wipe where necessary
- Empty black sacks/rubbish bins - where applicable
- Clean and mop floor with appropriate cleaner as instructed
Classrooms/ Resource Areas/ Staff Room/ Offices/ Meeting Rooms/ Library/Resource Areas and All Other Areas:
- Hard flooring - dust control sweep or vacuum, damp mop classrooms per day
- Furniture / desks - damp dust (all removable furniture e.g. trolleys must be pulled out and cleaned under)
- Fixtures & fittings - dust and damp wipe (incl. skirting, pipes, window ledges)
- Bins - empty daily and damp wipe monthly
- Clean inside and outside surrounds of sinks
- Doors - remove marks from glass, doors, handles and walls
Any other appropriate duties as required by the Headteacher
Cleaning to be carried out within the school holidays will be arranged with the Cleaner, Supervisor and Site Facilities Manager, where a schedule of cleaning will be agreed.
