What skills and experience we're looking for

We're looking for an enthusiastic person, with a love for providing healthy delicious food to our pupils to join our friendly team at Richard Crosse CE Primary School, Kings Bromley.

You will provide cover for our Catering Supervisor on a Wednesday, and cook and serve a simple pre-set menu to between 60-70 children, and clean the kitchen to the required standard afterwards. You will work alone in the kitchen, but will have support to serve the meals. You should take pride in the presentation of your food, engage with the children, and promote positive meal times. You may be offered adhoc additional hours to cover the Supervisor on other days, and may also be offered additional hours to cover kitchen absences at our other schools when necessary.

The role is term time only, and subject to a 6 month probation period. You will work 5 hours per week, 9.30am - 2.30pm on a Wednesday.

  • Prepare a variety of meals according to simple, established recipes and standards
  • Maintain high-quality presentation
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations
  • Serve food to pupils in an engaging and professional manner
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment

Requirements

  • Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or a kitchen environment is preferred but not mandatory
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures
  • Experience working in a catering setting is advantageous
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly attitude towards children and team members
