What skills and experience we're looking for

To share with the Headteacher leading and managing the school by:

  • determining the vision and strategic direction of the school to secure school improvement
  • playing an important role in formulating and reviewing the School Development Plan and the aims and objectives of the school by:
  • developing and reviewing the policies through which they will be achieved
  • leading and managing staff resources to that end monitoring and evaluating progress towards their achievement
  • assisting in the day-to-day running of the school in the absence of the headteacher

maintaining a high profile around the school

  • being a role model for good classroom practice
  • leading on delegated areas of responsibility
  • promotion of school behaviour policy consistently across school
  • contributing to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare and personal well-being and care of students
  • deputising for the Headteacher in the event of absence or other urgent business

What the school offers its staff

We are seeking to appoint a committed and innovative Deputy Headteacher to work at our small one form entry primary school. The successful candidate will work alongside the Headteacher and passionate senior leadership team, to drive school improvement. As a small school there will be a class responsibility (currently in our reception class). There will be a minimum of 1-day release time per week for the role of Deputy Head plus additional PPA time and Early Years leadership time. In addition to this we are seeking a candidate that would be willing to take on the role of school SENDCO either immediately or through a willingness to complete the SENDCo qualification. The role of the SENDCO would provide an additional 1-day class release time per week also.

  • Is a consistently good/outstanding classroom practitioner with high expectations and a proven track record of raising achievement
  • Has leadership experience as a senior teacher or phase leader
  • Is keen to share new ideas, work with staff and collaborate well with parents
