What skills and experience we're looking for

Are you an exceptionally organised, detail-driven professional with a strong understanding of examinations processes and data systems? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment where precision, compliance and deadlines are critical to student success?

We are seeking a highly motivated Exams and Assessment Officer to join our team at Outwood Academy Portland, affectionately known as “the Palace.” This is a pivotal role at the heart of the academy, ensuring the seamless delivery of all internal and external examinations while maintaining robust and accurate assessment data to support school improvement.

You will take full responsibility for the administration, organisation and smooth running of the examinations process, ensuring compliance with all JCQ regulations and awarding body requirements. From coordinating entries and timetables to managing invigilation and results distribution, your work will directly impact the experience and outcomes of our students.

Alongside this, you will play a key role in maintaining and analysing pupil assessment data, supporting leaders and teaching staff to track progress, identify underachievement and raise standards across the academy. Your ability to manage information systems, produce insightful reports and uphold the highest standards of accuracy and confidentiality will be essential.

This role requires excellent organisational skills, the ability to manage competing deadlines, and confidence in working with data and management information systems. You will also need strong communication skills, as you will liaise with staff, students, parents and external agencies.

If you are someone who takes pride in getting the detail right, can remain calm under pressure, and wants to contribute meaningfully to student success in a supportive and ambitious school, we would love to hear from you.

The academy benefits from being part of the Outwood Family of Schools, and we intend that every member of staff receives CPD appropriate to the role.

If you have any questions or would like to visit the school, please contact Murray Campbell, Assistant Principal at m.campbell@portland.outwood.com

We are a welcoming and supportive academy, with a relentless determination to provide the very best education for every child. We place students at the centre of everything we do, with a focus on creating a culture of success and a positive climate for learning. They welcome steps to make their workload more manageable. Staff morale is positive and they are very proud to be part of the school.’ - Ofsted, November 2024.
