Finance and Admin Assistant job summary

We are looking to appoint a driven and energetic Finance and Admin Assistant who will support and enhance the school's business and operations functions. You will support the Business Manager and Finance Manager to maintain the school's financial performance and deal with a range of administrative systems to ensure that the school enables pupils and staff to reach their potential.

This post will span our two office teams, finance and admin. Your main focus will be supporting the Finance Manager. It is planned that the role will focus on early years funding - liaising with parents, checking funding forms and eligibility, inputting , reconciling details of hours, invoicing and debt management. This is an important role as more than £500,000 income for the school is generated through our early years, You will also deal with placing orders and checking deliveries. Additionally, this role will support our busy admin team, checking registers, dealing with admissions (we manage our own early years admissions), supporting with compliance, as well as dealing with day to day communications.

This is an interesting, varied and busy role which offers many interesting opportunities - where else will you be looking at detailed figures at one moment and advising someone what to do with a dying duck on the playground the next? You will work at both our school sites and be part of a committed, experienced team who will support you as you get to grips with your role.

Hours: 12.5 hours per week, the working pattern can be discussed but is likely to be over five days. Term-time only.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Experience & knowledge of finance in an education setting.
  • Experience with accounting/budgeting software & Microsoft packages.
  • Experience of working in a finance-based role.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.

We are a two-site school in the market town of Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire. We have over five hundred and sixty main school pupils in addition to those attending our Early Years provision which brings our total number to nearly seven hundred. We have one hundred and thirty staff across both sites.

We have a senior and middle leadership structure, providing opportunities for career development.

Our teachers have shared PPA on a Friday afternoon and come together across both sites for our staff meeting/Inset every Wednesday. We plan as a team across both sites.
