Head of Finance job summary

Reporting directly to the Director of Finance & Business, you will lead an established central finance team of six and help drive financial efficiency, strategic improvement, and robust financial management across the Trust. This is an opportunity to support educational leaders to deliver the best possible outcomes for children and young people.

Established in April 2017 through a partnership of three local secondary schools, Magna Learning Partnership has grown into a thriving Multi-Academy Trust comprising seven primary schools, three secondary schools and a sixth form college.

The Role

As Head of Finance, you will support the Director of Finance & Business in delivering strong financial stewardship across the Trust. You will provide leadership to the finance team, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, and support school leaders and stakeholders in making informed financial decisions. About You

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated finance professional who combines technical expertise with strong leadership and relationship-building skills. We are looking for:

  • Someone with high integrity and conscientiousness, open to change and learning
  • Experienced in managing and developing staff
  • Experienced in the education sector
  • A qualified accountant
  • Experienced in producing monthly accounts, balance sheet reconciliations and cash flow forecasts
  • Experienced in producing information for auditors
  • Experienced in working with IMP and Sage
